Exploring the Wonders of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)


[PROGRAM OVERVIEW]

TCM is a treasured hallmark of China, boasting a history that spans thousands of years. It continues to play a vital role in modern healthcare, promoting a natural and holistic approach that is increasingly gaining international recognition. Launched in 2012, this annual summer program offers a dynamic blend of learning formats, including lectures, hands-on activities, and internships. It brings together international students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds alongside Chinese volunteers to explore Shanghai, immerse themselves in Chinese culture, and discover the fascinating world of TCM. The 2025 'Shanghai Summer School' (TCM Program) will be held at the SHUTCM campus.


[MAIN PROGRAM CONTENTS]

The course lectures of this project consist fundamental theories of TCM, TCM diagnosis, meridians and acupuncture points, commonly used Chinese herbs, and the clinical application of acupuncture, moxibustion, and Tuina, practical Chinese language skills, as well as various cultural experience activities.

[PROGRAM DURATION]

Start Date: June 2, 2025 (Monday) - July 27, 2025(Friday) (4 weeks)

Course Hours and Schedule: Approximately 140 credit hours in total, Monday to Friday, start at 9:00 in the morning and 1:30 in the afternoon

*Exchange activities are arranged for weekends.

[QUOTA AND SCHOLARSHIP]

  1.  20 participants of Shanghai Summer School Scholarship: including tuition, accommodation, and activity fees.

  2.  20 partially self-funded participants: need to pay CNY 10,000 per head, including food, accommodation (double rooms) and activity fees.

  3.  20 self-funded (full amount) participants: need to pay CNY 20,000 per head, including tuition, accommodation (double rooms), and activity fees.


[CERTIFICATE]

Students who successfully complete the program and pass the comprehensive assessment will receive a certificate of completion of International Non-Degree Education Training from SHUTCM.

[REQUIREMENTS]

Application Requirements: Applicants should be aged between 18 and 50 years old, in good health, interested in TCM and Chinese traditional culture, and hold valid international insurance. Priority will be given to students majoring in medicine and related fields.

  •  Passport-size photo (DPI greater than 200, image size greater than 50KB, pixels greater than 200*300)

  •  Resume (typically including personal information, educational history, work experience, etc.)

  •  Language proficiency documents (HSK certificate, HSKK certificate, or proof of Chinese language learning, to demonstrate Chinese language proficiency. If this document is not submitted, it will be considered as not having participated in relevant exams)
