Chinese Language Course

for International Students Year 2024

Long-term Chinese Language Course (Full-time)


1. Program orientation:The course aims to comprehensively improve the student’s Chinese Language proficiency. Through a variety of engaging classroom teaching and cultural experience activities, students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills are fortified, and practical communication in their daily life and work are enhanced.


2. Main courses and course features:

Providing courses at beginner's, elementary, intermediate and advanced levels.

Mixed classes of students from all countries, providing a conducive environment for multi-cultural interactions.

Small classes with an average of 15 students.

A streaming test is carried out at the beginning of the semester to facilitate students to choose a suitable starting point for learning.

Student visa provided.


3. Program certificate: Program certification will be awarded upon completion of all required courses and passing all examinations.

5. Application time:

Deadline of spring term: March 1st,2024

Deadline of fall term: September 1st,2024


6. Time of study:

Spring term: March 11th – June 28th,2024

fall term: September – December,2024 (Specific date will be informed in Registration Letter)


7. Eligibility

18 - 60 years old

Good health condition with valid foreign passport


8. Fees:

Application fees: 450 RMB per person

Tuition fees: 9 500 RMB per semester

Textbooks and learning materials fees based on needs


 9. Application documents:

Copy of the student’s passport (Passport within 6 months validity from the date of submission)

Payment invoice of application fee

Requirement: Bareheaded, 3.5*5.4cm, 626*413px resolution

Note: The photo will be used for your student ID card. Please ensure that the photo fulfills all above requirements. Usage of student ID may be compromised if requirements are not met.


10. Application details:

All applications to be accurately completed and documents uploaded online according to requirements stated on the website: https://apply.shutcm.edu.cn/

Admission will be decided based on appraisal of submitted documents. Application fees will not be refunded as a result of the following circumstances: rejected applications due to incomplete documents, disqualified applications, students voluntarily withdraw.

All accepted applicants are to bring along original copies of their application documents and proof of health (health screening results) for validation.


11. Scholarships and funds

Enrolled students may apply for the SHUTCM Scholarship for Chinese Language Students (attachment 2).

Students who have completed at least one semester of the Preparatory Program for TCM and is continuing degree courses with the University may apply for the International Student “Silk Road” Assistance Fund (attachment 3).
