战疫情·广东疫情防控例行新闻发布会 钟南山院士回应中医药在诊疗方面的作用

    主持人：好，下面我们再来关注一条来自今天下午广东疫情防控例行新闻发布会上的消息。在发布会上，钟南山院士对于中医药在诊疗方面的作用，也表达了自己的观点。

Host: Ok, Now let's follow another news from the regular press conference on the prevention and control of the epidemic in Guangdong Province this afternoon. At the press conference, Prof. Zhong Nanshan expressed his views on the role of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in diagnosis and treatment of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).  

    钟南山：（尽管）西药在细胞实验阶段能有效对抗新冠病毒，（但）要真正应用于人体还需一个过程。（因为）很多西药确实会在体外有效而在体内无效。

Prof. Zhong Nanshan: Some existing drugs have shown fairly good antiviral activity against the novel coronavirus at the cellular level. But they are now still under clinical trials. Quite a few Western drugs are found to be effective in vitro, but may not in the human body.

    但中药不一样。中药像六神丸、莲花清瘟、金振口服液和热毒宁注射液，（虽然）在临床已经常用，（但是）实验室应当进一步做动物实验，（来）说明这些中药能够减少病毒进入细胞，（或者）减少炎症风暴。这能够给中药的使用提供一些依据和线索。

But the case is different with Traditional Chinese Medicine. Some Chinese herbal medicines, like Liushen Wan (Miraculous Pill of Six Ingredients), Lianhua Qingwen Capsule or Granule, Jinzhen Oral Liquid, and Reduning Injection, have already been commonly used clinically. They have been proved to be effective in lab recently. But further animal experimentation needs to be taken to prove these Chinese herbal medicines can be helpful in preventing the virus from entering cells or reducing cytokine storm, which may provide evidence for the use of Chinese herbal medicine.

    我很重视中药在实验室对这些新冠病毒的作用情况，(一来)是不是能杀病毒，（二来）是不是能够阻止病毒进入细胞，（三来）是不是能减少产生的炎症风暴。

I have been very concerned about the lab research results of Chinese herbal medicine, i.e. if it can really kill the virus, keep the virus from entering cells, or reduce the cytokine storm.

    一旦有证据，中药特别是（针对）一些（新冠）早中期患者来说，是可以放心用的。

Once there is evidence, Chinese herbal medicine can be used safely, especially for those with mild-to-moderate cases of the virus.
