On morning of June 30, 2013, the opening ceremony of 2013 Shanghai Summer School (Chinese Medicine Program) was held at the Lecture Hall, International Exchange and Cooperation Center, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Vice-President Hu Hongyi, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Vice-Director Zheng Linyun, International Communication Section, Vice-Director Zhao Hai Lei and Vice-Director Ying Lijun, International Education College, Professor Li Zhengyu and Associate Professor Zhao Ling, the representatives of the teachers, the teachers of International Education College, the SSS participants, the volunteers and some students’ presents were present at the opening ceremony, that was moderated by Vice-Director Ying Lijun.
The Program, sponsored by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and organized by International Education College, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is themed of “the Miraculous Tour: Chinese Medicine Exploration”. 35 international students from 13 countries of Brazil, USA, Malaysia, Germany, Finland, Serbia, Malta, Thailand, Korea, Japan and Singapore entered for the Program.
At the opening ceremony, Vice-Director Zhao Hailei introduced the basic situation of the University and the College, and also the teaching program and notes for attention as well. Vice-Director Zheng Linyun, on behalf of the International Communication Section, wished the participants a great achievement in the Program. Professor Li Zhengyu of Acupuncture and Tuina College, the representative of the teachers, shared his teaching experience with students and teachers, and hoped the participants would involve in the teaching activities actively. At last, Vice-President Hu Hongyi introduced the achievements in training and culturing the personnel in Chinese medicine for the society and offered his best wishes for the complete success of Shanghai Summer School (Chinese Medicine Program).
In the following 4 weeks, the participants will enjoy the lectures given by the teachers of our University, study Chinese medicine knowledge and Chinese language, and participate and experience various activities of Chinese cultures. It is the first time for most of them to come to China and Shanghai, and they hope to know about China and Shanghai, to understand Chinese medicine, and to experience the extensive knowledge and profound scholarship of traditional Chinese medicine.
