A group of international students from 20 countries participating in the Shanghai International Student Cultural Experience Camp took part in the "Experiencing China" activity in Shanghai on Oct 16.
With the theme of "To Understand Chinese Medicine and Culture and Tour a New Village," the camp attracted nearly 50 international students from four universities in Shanghai, including the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, as well as Shanghai Normal University.
Hosted by the Chinese Scholarship Council, the one-day activity took participants on a tour of the Shanghai Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which offers a unique insight into the millennia old practice of traditional Chinese medicine, and of Haishen village, which showcases the new look of villages in Shanghai's Pudong New Area.
At the museum, students were briefed on the historic achievements of TCM, as well as learned about current acupuncture and massage, TCM-related rehabilitation, and prescriptions. Some also experienced TCM treatment methods through traditional and modern devices.
The students also went on a cycling tour of Haishen village, the hometown of China's Olympic track cyclist champion Zhong Tianshi, where they enjoyed the rural scenery and learned about local changes over the recent years of reform and opening-up.
