A conference that took place on Nov 1 has pushed the Chinese, Canadian and French cooperation on medicine and humanities to a new level.

It gathered officials and researchers from Canada's University of Ottawa, France's University of Lyon, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SHUTCM).

The attendees focused on the fruitful results the four sides have achieved in the past two years, especially the first session of a summer program on medicine and humanities, which got underway at the Canadian campus this July.

They also had heated discussions on the preparation work of the second edition of the summer program, which is to be held at the University of Lyon in 2018, and looked forward to carrying it out smoothly.

Hu Hongyi, vice president of SHUTCM, spoke highly of the summer program.

"The cross-regional and interdisciplinary cooperation provides our students with a new platform to learn and grow; it also helps facilitate the all-round development of Chinese and Western medical education," Hu said.
