Exploring the Wonders of Traditional Chinese Medicine

[PROGRAM OVERVIEW]

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is one of China's national treasures, with a rich history spanning thousands of years. It continues to play a unique role in people's healthcare today, promoting a natural and holistic approach that is increasingly recognized internationally. This program, initiated in 2012 and held annually during the summer, offers a variety of teaching formats, including lectures, experiential activities, and internships. It brings together international students with diverse cultural and educational backgrounds and Chinese volunteers to gradually explore Shanghai, understand Chinese culture, and delve into the magnificent world of TCM. The 2024 'Shanghai Summer School' (TCM Program) will be conducted at the SHUTCM campus (offline).

[MAIN PROGRAM CONTENTS]

The program's lecture series will systematically introduce TCM knowledge, covering foundational theories, diagnostic techniques, meridians and acupoints, common Chinese herbal medicines, and clinical applications of acupuncture and tuina. In addition to theoretical learning, students will visit locations such as the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine campus, the Shanghai TCM Museum, and affiliated hospitals to understand the practical applications of TCM, acupuncture, and tuina in clinical settings. The program also includes practical Mandarin language lessons for daily life and various cultural activities to experience Chinese traditions, including understanding traditional Chinese festivals.
